Highschool Schedule

Next year I’m going to be a freshman and I’m deciding on what classes I want to take. Here’s my current 4 year plan:

9th Grade-
Humanities l (English l Pre-Ap credit)
Geometry Pre-Ap
Biology Pre-Ap
World Geography Pre-Ap
Spanish ll
Theatre Tech
Girls Basketball

10th Grade-
English ll Pre-Ap
Algebra ll Pre-Ap
Chemistry Pre-Ap
Humanities ll (WHAP credit)
Spanish lll
Health/Communications
Girls Basketball

11th Grade-
American Studies (Ap Lang + Apush. Not sure if it would better to take them separately)
Pre-cal Pre-Ap
Physics Pre-Ap
Ap Chemistry
Spanish lV
Girls Basketball

12th Grade-
AP Lit
Ap Calculus (Not sure AB or BC)
Ap Physics
Ap Gov/Econ (might take over summer)
AP Psych
Elective
Girls Basketball

Theres a lot of things I’m unsure about but my main concerns are Spanish and rigor of classes. I want to go to UCLA and I know I have to try harder since I’m OOS. Would it be better to just take regular Spanish and not the ap exam since I’m doing basketball? Should I take 4 or 5 pre-aps next year? Should I take AP Human Geo instead of pre-ap world? I know it seems really early to be thinking about college but I want to set myself up to do my best and hopefully get into the schools I want.

It’s a good schedule.
Remember though that top universities want to see 4-8 Aps total, so don’t overload, and make sure to get plenty of sleep.

It’s pretty early to start thinking about specific schools, but just make sure you know that UC schools don’t give need-based aid to out of state students.

And I’ll echo what MYOS1634 said - don’t focus on taking too many APs. Sometimes it’s better to take the hardest classes in the areas that you’re interested in (something you’ll figure out in the next four years) and ease up in those you’re not.
