Highschool Stats, Please Help!

Hey so I have pretty bad grades, I know, but I’m still motivated to get into a good college and work my ass off there. Here are my highschool grades so far, please let me know what my chances are:

I also have extra curriculars:
Artistic Roller Skating - I practice around 12 hours a week and I won three National medals (two third places and a first)
Over 200 hours of volunteering at the hospital
I went to UC Berkeley for a medical summer camp (it was a profit organization though, nothing special)
President of the Health Sciences Club at my school

And that’s where I’m at right now.
With those grades, my GPA is at a 3.71 weighted as of now.
I got a 1250 on the SAT and my essay scores were 7 5 7, but I’m planning to take it again so I might get a higher score.
I want to try getting into UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, Oregon State, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, or Penn State (main campus). Oh, and please do suggest good colleges I can get into. I know my grades are pretty bad, but I want to go into a good college and take biology.

Why biology? There’s such an oversupply of them that they currently have the lowest ROI of all (yes, major in art or English for a better ROI).

What’s your budget (EFC? Need bseed aid or merit aid needed?)

Uiuc is highly unlikely.
Are you in-state in California? What’s your if GPA?

Will only comment on the UC’s listed. What do you plan to do with a Biology degree?

GPA is on the low side for a competitive major and schools. SAT within range for UCSC/UCD but definitely would help your chances if you can bump up both grades and test scores.

UCSC possible since they do not admit into the major but into the University first.
UCSC average UC GPA is 3.9.

UCD is a Reach since Biology is impacted and they admit directly into the College.
UCD’s average UC GPA is 4.1

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 (capped weighted):
UCD: 15%
UCSB: 14%
UCI: 13%
UCSC: 59%
UCR: 78%
UCM: 92%

25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCSB: 1210- 1450
UCD: 1190-1430
UCI: 1190-1420
UCSC: 1170-1380
UCR: 1090-1310
UCM: 1020-1230

If you are a CA resident, consider UC Riverside and Merced and a few Cal States for solid Match and Safety schools. If not a CA resident, paying $60K+/year to attend a UC is a waste of money.

I am a california resident and a 3.7 weighted I’m pretty sure

I am a california resident and thank you so much! that helped a lot, I’m just a little worried about my chances. Also I want to go to med school, I know my grades are low but a lot happened in my highschool years (won’t complain about it though to the colleges). I’m just going to try to get into a good college and turn things around.

OK, you have a decent shot at UCSC, UCR, UCM.
Oregon State and Penn State, perhaps, if you apply Undecided (called “DUS” at Penn State) or if your Biology major is in the College of Agriculture at both (basically it means fewer foreign languages, different math requirements, but it’s still biology). Neither will offer financial aid.

okay! thank you so much!!
