Hispanic Female for Pratt Eng? Low SAT math?

Hi,

I want to apply to the Pratt School of Engineering for Biomedical Engineering, but I have a comparatively low math SAT score: 710.

SAT CR: 760
SAT W: 800

My extracurricular/essays/everything else are really good, but I don't know if I'd get accepted to Pratt. Should I go for Trinity instead?

I’m betting that they accept you, assuming you are top 5%-10% in your class at a competitive school. You have a “double hook” (URM + female engineering applicant). You have a very solid overall score of 2270. How does your SAT 2 math score look?

SAT Math II=doesn’t look too great. Math I: 680 Math II:660 but I am planning on retaking them in Jan…

And I am ranked 1 at my school, but it is not really a “competitive” one, or at least not compared to some. It’s a charter school in south florida…

Is it a “triple hook” if I am also first-generation? :P

Anyone? Please?

If you can demonstrate through your classes and extracurriculars, etc that you have an interest in math and sciences, I’m pretty sure you’re going to get in.

And if you’re worried, apply Trinity, then switch to Pratt once you get accepted. Most people switch out of Pratt the first year, so they’ll be happy to let people in. But, if you can demonstrate that you love math/science/really want to be an engineer, you’re fine.
