does anyone know how to apply for this scholarship. I've called, I've emailed, no answer, and their web site doesn't open the application. thanks!

Ah thank you for posting this, I’m having the same trouble opening the application link and I emailed as well with no response. The scholarship looks interesting and applicable to me so I really wanted to do it.

Vicky1 and Ggarcia 2014, if you find the answer could you please post here. I know my DS is also interested. I’ll try to work on it too and will post any results.

I have continued to call, leave messages, write emails to no avail. Not even the courtesy of one reply.

Thank you itsv and ggarcia! I’m glad to know I am not alone. I am beginning to give up hope. As soon as I hear anything, I will post on this board.

I just recieved this message:

Thank you for your email. Im sorry for the difficulty in getting hold of us, the website is now updated with the correct contact information and the new details of the Youth Awards:

[Hispanic Heritage Awards](http://hispanicheritage.org/youth.php)

The application for high school juniors will be up at the end of March, recipients will be selected in the summer and the ceremonies will take place during the Fall of their senior year.

Sadly, it sounds like Seniors will not be able to apply. I am glad the awards are still viable.

The website states the new time line as:

It’s hard to understand since they don’t cite a specific date for the application deadline, but it sounds like applications are available in late March and are due in June/July??

Just found this clarification:

[Hispanic Heritage Awards](http://hispanicheritage.org/youth_int.php?sec=193)

So, it looks like there’s still plenty of time for current jrs to apply.

Note: If you or one of your parents can directly trace your ancestry to Latin America, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, the Spanish speaking Caribbean or the Philippines, then you qualify for this award:

I know I’m being a sore loser, but I’m kinda sad that the scholarship is now closed to seniors. I’m Filipino, and there are virtually no scholarships (except for the APIASF) available to us unless you live in HI or CA, which I don’t.

Now, this is another let down because I felt like this was a scholarship I had a decent chance of getting. Aww shucks.

Last year only seniors could apply. This year only juniors can apply? So did the class of 2010 get shut out?

yup, unfortunately it looks like the class of 2010 is out of luck.

I got an email this morning from Hispanic Heritage Awards which they put in bold asking me not to share with students. However I figured it would be okay to say the following. The application will be online in April, 2010. The program has majorily been revamped and changed including the previous markets (my market was dropped) where the award would be made. Awards will now be made in the Fall and that is why it is only open to Juniors this year.

With the crazy economy and all, I guess this year’s seniors (including my own ds) just are not having the same opportunities.

Good luck to this year’s juniors and be sure to stay on top of this program and chaning deadlines/requirements.

Hi I’m interested in applying but can’t find the application on the website?

Hi, everyone. Does anybody know when the decisions will be made about this year’s award winners? Does the HHF write to all applicants with their decision, or do they only contact the people who win?

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same question as marama. I applied but haven’t heard back yet.

Well, the summer is over and we still haven’t heard anything. Has anyone else?

Dang, I just found out about this.

My D. was notified last week by phone call that she is a recipient in the Chicago region. I believe that they notify by phone or e-mail and will do it region by region, based of the calendar of the awards ceremonies. Goood luck everyone!

Thanks, stillwatermom, and congratulations on your d’s award! That’s great!

I telephoned yesterday. and they told me it should still be another month before Bay Area winners are notified.

Has anyone else heard back yet?

No word yet here in San Francisco, at least not that I’ve heard of.
