Hispanic Scholars Admission

I'm a soon to be high school senior and will be attending the Outstanding Hispanic Scholars weekend in July. I've heard several different things about how the people that go are treated in terms of admission. One friend said that he heard from a very good source that the participants have a 92% acceptance rate. How much credibility is there in terms of such a high statistic, and if so, what would it take to screw up getting in with that high a chance?

PMed you some information.

Okay the 92% chance acceptance rate is definitely wrong, and I am 100% sure of that. The benefits you receive are not having to sign the ED contract and yes your chances of acceptance are increased (especially if the admissions people working rmeber your face), but it is not 92% trust me I know.

ASMAJ, could you PM me some info too, because i have the same curiosities of the benefits one can have by attending the program.

I was invited and filled out my application a couple weeks ago but have heard back nothing about confirmation for the housing during the night and just plain confirmation.

has anyone heard a response from filling out the application?

I filled out the application, printed out my confirmation page, and haven't heard anything from the school.

I think they're probably waiting until after June 8 (the deadline to sign up for the program) before sending confirmation letters out so they can send them all at once.

I havent gotten anything either, i agree with toydiamondring, it would be much easier for UF that way, theyre busy enough as it is. im still really anxiously waiting for it though. I dont feel like writing that essay though but i guess we have time

Honestly, I feel like I don't have life experiences significant enough to write about. :/

I didn't get the transcript they wanted either, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that there's some counselor in school over the summer that can get me one.

They haven't package the letters yet. They are going to be packaging them on June 4-8.

How do u know these things ASMAJ lol, do u also know when they'll be sent?

They use people like me for free labor to package them. Plus we get emails.
