Can anyone tell me what was your experience when you took History 1A? Did you have to do oral presentations, many research papers, "discuss" a lot? Did the TA force you 'discuss.' Or even better, can anyone suggest a better ( Foundations of Society and Culture)Historical Analysis class for me. Please let me know. Thanks.

My experience wasn't too bad... we didn't have oral presentations, only two papers (didn't need to do any outside research,) and participation was a big part of our grade however, my TA didn't "make" us participate... it was up to ourselves to get a word or two in during discussions... on top of that we had a two part midterm and the final.

history 1a or any history class is contingent on the professor. whoevers teaching it this quarter will not be the same as last.

if you're some south campus and need a history analysis GE, you shoulda taken any of teo ruiz's classes. wow that guy is incredible..

namaste's right... you may just have a more demanding professor than I had or more demanding TA for that matter...

Eh... I'm just looking for a HA GE class that doesn't have a 2-hour discussion. Level of difficulty of the professor doesn't matter to me, but the level of student participation does... I don't know, it's just me. :|

what you do really depends on your TA. some TAs make you do presentations, some dont.

btw be sure to avoid miguel chavez cuz that guy is the worst TA i've ever had at ucla

history 1a is a great class....you get to learn about sumerian kingdoms, egypt, the beginning of christianity, the ROMAN EMPIRE BABBBYYY, and more. great class.
