I being having a problem, I don't what I want to pick for my major i do like history and my grades are pretty good in it. Is really worth getting a history degree? How is the job market for history major? Should I just give up on the idea on getting it?

Which year of hs/college are you in?

If you like history, there are so many humanities subjects available at college it’s amazing. You might also consider English Literature, archaeology Philosophy, anthropology, politics/political science, sociology…

Worth can be measured financially or by satisfaction, career advancement, networking, new relationships, self discovery. And a degree alone does not guarantee a job. However, your major isn’t critical unless you want to go into science or accounting or another area requiring undergraduate professional training. If finances are key to you, keep tuition costs down. Look to in-state colleges or privates with good needs based aid. Take out as few loans as you can.

Traditionally, history majors have gone into academia, law, teaching (k-12), publishing, museums, journalism, non-profits… anywhere either a knowledge of history or an ability to write well is useful.

However, there’s no reason why you couldn’t join the police, go to grad school for nursing or medicine, become an explorer, start a business, be a retail manager, salesperson, baker etc. Some jobs will require extra training but that doesn’t invalidate your history major if you value it intrinsically. If you don’t let your major define you, then it won’t :)
