So...what are my chances for Medill?

bumpity bump

hello! I'd like to say you have good chances but honestly the rankkills it. I applied hoping i'd get in. people though i had "decent"chances (besides SAT) but i was in the top 12% of my class. i guess a a ruleof thumb you HAVE tobe in the top 10% of the class or you have slim to no chance it gotvery difficult to get into this school too.

for Medill, you seem to have an average chance, since your ton of ec's in the journalism area makes up for a below average class rank. I really cant say anything until you take the SAT's and SAT II's. Commended Scholar for PSAT will help a little though. i know you think you will get these scores on the SAT and i am sure you will, but once its official, then you can have a better prediction (even though these chances things dont mean a thing!)

Jeremy, not completely true.

I was accepted... my SATs were 1290 (1860) and I am 24/150 (top 20%) in my class with a 4.10 weighted GPA

That's for the school of music though, so I'm sure they give some leniency.

Based on admission decisions of many of my friends, I think you will have a very good chance of admission for Medill.

As long as they recognize your high school as being extremely competitive, I'm sure you'll be alright.

Good luck!

i dont think so, i was in the top maybe 20-30% of my class and i'm in now. couple things to keep in mind for me: i'm an engineer, i was waitlisted. take that as you will

pianoman! i too applied to the school of music!! for voice. but i had an 1170 with an 1860 (ironic no?) congrats! Idk maybe nu just hates me lol. in that case, then this girl has great chances :P

Hey Jeremy!

Admission to music school this particular year is a real crapshoot. I know MANY fantastic musicians that have been rejected from many of the top schools. And also, voice is insane haha.

Do you know where you're going to school?? Good luck!

OMG Tellme about it! I got into frost school of music over case and james madison which are def. easier - go figurelol. I am either going to Tulane or University of Miami. Although everyone tells m frost is great but i wouldnt have known. northwestern and mcgill were by far my tops. i would have killed to get intoNU, an di was crushed when i gotrejected. but i havemoved on and if everything goes well, i'll probably end up going to tulane overmiami. but i don't know :P

Well my school doesnt actually do rankings or GPA's so that might not harm my transcript? I just approimated the 20% figure, im not sure of my exact ranking

Sound like a great plan Jeremy... good luck!

lol thanks. good luck to you too!

sorry but prob unlikely. i had 770c/700m top 10%. waitlisted at medill.
but i didn't visit so my advice is to show a lot of interest.

Nomoresats:

There's also the fact that when you apply to very specialised programs, they're going ot look heavily at your level of interest in that program. Were you heavily involved in Journalism?

OP:
Your level of interest in Journalism is your best asset, could you get some sort of major internship this summer?
