publishing book this year. a kids story. haha maybe a hook?
please chance me!!!!

Your act is good at 30. Your SAT, please spell out between reading, writing and math. Most schools just look at the traditional 2. For USC honors I think you need at least 1400 between math and reading.

Is your GPA weighted or non weighted. I imagine that since you are homeschooled that it is unweighted so it’s low. You need to really figure out your native american status since this can help you alot especially in the financial aid dept. Based on what I read here’s my estimate;

USC Honors* marginal depends on SATs reading and math
Duke* probably no
Furman* probably in
College of William and Mary(hesitant because of financial aid) its a state school, high OOS competition probably no
George Washington maybe in probably no
Georgetown no
Sewanee??
Vanderbilt probably no
Wake Forest maybe in probably no

Please dont let me or anybody esle sway you away from applying to any school. Nobody here is an admissions decision maker. Add some pizzazz to your application and you never know. Call and talk to the admissions counselor of the school you really want to get into to and let them know your feelings. Visit the school if possible and do the same. I applied 3 times to one of the top 10 national universities in the country. It was a huge huge reach (on paper I didnt stand a chance) and was finally accepted the 3rd time.

I agree with George on his answers, but disagree because your ACT at 30 is way too low for these colleges. Duke avg is over your score, remember that is avg, and Duke has a lot of recruited athletes, which typically pull down the avg, even a 31/32 avg is deemed competitive. Even now your scores are too low for UNCCH, which is not as competitive as Duke. We just moved from NC, and I can tell you that Valedictorians get rejected with 9 APs from Duke, while also being the Class President and Captain of a sports team, unless there is a hook for them. We had in our sons class 2 that were accepted, one on an AFROTC scholarship, another from Coca-Cola scholarship, that was there hooks. You also do not have any APs which will hurt you for competitive reasons.

I would lower the level of schools, maybe Elon would be a better match for NC. Of course Clemson you should have no problem. All colleges that are public on the east coast are very competitive for OOS applicants.

well Duke’s 50th percentile for the ACT is 29-34. I don’t think Duke’s athletes would lower it that much. UNCCH’s 50th percentile for the ACT is 26-31. My school doesn’t offer AP’s.
