Any other recipients out there? :)

haha congratulations! I didn’t…I got the Bloomberg Scholarship? I mean, the letter was all like CONGRATULATIONS!!! But…uh…“highly competitive need-based”?? What does that mean? lol

My D got it, out of the blue. Really nice letter attahced too.
Honestly shocked.
(for searching sake I will list her basic stats in round numbers.)
SAT-M Under 700. CR/W Both Under 800. Not by much either way…
4.0-ish GPA UW.
Letter specifically mentioned two things from her background which led me to believe they were looking for a very engaged student.
-wow-
Going to that Lunch thing???

Haha it was out of the blue for me too! I mean I had an excellent GPA and SAT but they get lots of those, so I was not even thinking about the Hodson at all… Unfortunately I can’t go to the luncheon because I had already committed to another school visit the same day…

Hodson is super prestigious. Definitely worth a visit no matter what time in April you can go. Congrats - you have to be nominated by the person who read your application/admissions committee to get it I think!!

DD received the Hodson- had no clue what it was when she applied. JHU has an amazing public health policy program which she is interested in. We visited last year and had a very thorough tour, so no need to visit again in our minds. If we can swing a weekday(not during admit weekends), that would be fine-but it looks like her schedule in maxed out. Don’t think it was just stats/grades. She was a CTY in middle school, and did a ton of volunteer work and research at local medical university. We are really impressed with JHU’s responsiveness. Will be a difficult decision. Good luck all!

The Hodson is definitely not just based on stats/grades. I think they’re really looking for students who they think will have a big impact on campus through student leadership, volunteer activities etc. I was a Hodson Scholar and they have a Hodson luncheon each year - the other people I met that got the scholarship were some of the most modest yet incredibly talented, motivated and involved people I’ve met.

Huge congrats!
