Hello everyone am a current freshman at Hofstra University and I made my decision to trasnfer back home. I live in the Bronx but am currently living at Hofstra. The cost for the education is double the amount I can get at a CUNY school. I applied to CUNY last year but didn't get in due my sat scores I guess. I have a 2.4 GPA in high school. But since am in college I know they want transfers to submit both transcripts from college and high school. But I would like to know which CUNY school is best fitted for me to apply.

High school GPA 2.4
college GPA: Not sure yet but am taking 15 credits this fall 2011 and have 4 credits from college now at Lehman College.
SAT scores are horrible :-(

IDK what to do and where to apply anymore. I wish I could get into somewhere like Hunter or City College.

How did you get into Hofstra and not into CUNY? I’m not insulting you, I’m really curious.

I went to Lehman myself and it’s a better college than its reputation would suggest.

I would suggest that you start a community college first, perhaps BCC or Hostos since they’re in the Bronx. However, depending on where you live, you could also try BMCC or Queensboro.

Am not sure all I know am taking like 2 remedial classes. But I hope these dont ruin my chances. I also saw that one of my remedial classes credit can be transfers to a few CUNY school as an English entry course. Thats very odd.

I dont see the point of going to CC if am in a University already. Going back down wont look good to colleges as I see it.

I applied to CUNY last year but I wasnt the one to send all my supporting documents. It was done by someone else. I sometimes wonder maybe they didnt send my strong documents which may have hinder my admission. I did apply to Hofstra myself and sent all the require documents myself.

Honestly, if you are taking remedial classes, you should really think about CC. First of all, they are geared to remediation. I have heard that Queens, Hunter and City don’t take students who need remediation. I am not certain of that, though, and you should check the website. I didn’t think that remedial courses earned credits. Am I mistaken?

Also, the CC’s are even less expensive than the CUNY’s. It’s not a step down if you are going to actually achieve what you need to graduate and have success. Remember, people only look at where your diploma is from, not where you transferred from or started out.

Brooklyn college offers credit for one of my remedial classes. Well am not sure if they are remedial classes. I just havent take any classes like math or english. I have taken writing classes. I was also thinking of Manhattan College.

Another thing I was thinking was that its prob better to apply to Manhattan College & Fordham just because they have a late deadline for Fall 2012 transfer. By the time I apply I would be done with my First year at Hofstra and have over 34 credits to transfer. The more credit the less HS data is needed.
