neato: I have no doubt that she just wanted to be sure she was wide awake in order to give you her full attention. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

No. She loves coffee more.

I was pleasantly surprised to find CameoKid in very good spirits when I picked her up yesterday just after the last of her 4 final exams. The week included 2 papers, too… a rude awakening for the first term, but I suppose that is typical. She said she was tired, but didn’t appear exhausted to me… somehow I expected to find her looking half asleep, disheveled… (the way I looked during finals!). We chatted with her advisor, who filled me in on how she’s adjusting (very well). When we got home, she emptied her backpack and showed me all her papers, exams, etc – everything since the beginning of the term. (I didn’t ask for it, she just wanted to share it all!) She got a D- on her very first English paper (not a big surprise, as I knew she was not well prepared by her public middle school.) The grades got consistently better over time and I could tell by the teacher comments that they had been meeting regularly to go over the weak points. She was especially proud to show me her final English paper, which earned a grade of A-. I am so proud of how hard and diligently she’s been working. She tells me that she is “in love with my school”, but she is also thrilled to be home. And yes, I see a little more maturity… and I got very big hugs. We celebrated by going to see the new Hunger Games movie. :)

Wow all of you parents genuinely care about your kids and I applaud you for that. You even understand the advantages of boarding school… wish I had parents like that.
