I’m a freshmen at UMD got a letter in the mail from the Primannum Honor Society which says it represents Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigman (honor societies). They invited to join and I should pay a one time $75 fee. My question: is it worth it?
Haha well I made my son pay it…it’s real and if u can maintain 3.5 by the time you graduate and participate in enough activities to earn 18 points with them u get to wear honor cords at graduation. Graduating cum laude is not as easy with the +/- system to be in the top x% of your department…so 3.5 may not earn cum laude but with primannum membership u get to sport some extra bling at graduation if that means anything to you. It’s also something to put on your resume as an honor when u apply for internships as a college freshman and really don’t have too much else going on to impress with. The activities? Up to u whether they are your speed or not. But it is real and an active society on campus, fwiw.
I had the same question last year. Here is the answer I received from @maryversity. My daughter did join, and if nothing else, it boosts her resume a bit.
Thanks both for quick and helpful comments.
Thanks, maryversity and terpmom7. Helpful as always!
