Honors and Hume

Are all rooms in Hume available for the honors students? In other words, know that not all honors students live in Hume, but that is their choice; however, are there spots in Hume for every available honors student?

The capacity of Hume Hall is only 608 so it depends how many people want to live there. I’m not even sure how many people were admitted to Honors.

Yes. We have been wondering also if Hume is Guarenteed for Honors students if they choose it. Does anyone know?

Just to clarify–it is not guaranteed to Honors students. I’m a junior now and I remember when I applied my housing date was really good (August 18th? Sometime in mid-August) and I was assigned a random roommate. In July, I was sent an email from UF saying that my roommate was changed and I had been reassigned someone because my original assignment was not attending UF. When I met my new roommate, she explained that she had a really awful housing date and had been put “on the waiting list” for Hume. She was originally told she’d be living in Jennings and got an email in July saying she had been moved to Hume (her first choice). So even if you don’t get Hume, you might still have a chance to get in.

Also, in terms of the number of people accepted to the honors program, I think it’s probably close to 800, as they were recently looking for TAs for the new honors course they will be requiring all Honors freshmen to take in the spring and I was told it would be an 800-student lecture.

Hope this helps!
