Honors and PEERs at UCLA

I know these are two different things but I didn't want to make two threads.

So, my questions are:

Is it worth it to apply for the honors program?

and

Is it worth it to apply for PEERS?

And why? You can tell me some of the benefits or preferably your own personal experience with how either of these programs have helped you (or not ).

P.S. So for that interdisciplinary project question for the honors program...how do they expect us to answer that? Like is this a "fun" project (something that might not seem that important on a wide scale and might seem silly or pointless to the people judging these applications but still interesting to you), a research project (like finding the cure for something or something more wide scale that's kind of important o_o), or like a charity project to raise money for an organization using two disciplines... I'm sorry if this is a dumb question I just don't know how to answer it, especially since I haven't started any research at UCLA.

Thank you for your input :)

Hi, I just graduated ucla in physci this June and going to med school (just want to give background and cred to what I say - nothing else). I wasn’t in the honors or PEERS so I can’t comment on those well.

My friend was in honors and from what I heard from him:
cons

 • 1-2hrs/week more coursework per honors class taken
 • doesn’t really help that much on resume (hopefully ur not joinging just for that)

benefits

 • more chance to meet the prof
 • I him mention there’s a peer mentoring system

I would highly recommend looking into the below organizations too:
ucla biomedical minor
CURE at ucla

I didn’t apply to honors so I can’t comment on the prompt.

Best of luck!
