Honors College - Accepted/Declined

Has anyone been declined to the honors college yet?
I am still waiting for my decision, and they told me that they have to wait and see if I will be in the top 10% of incoming freshman. Does everyone get this, or are some declined right away? I am not sure if my situation is good or bad.

Where did you hear that from? In a letter or on the phone? I sent my application in in mid january and all I have heard is that I will hear on or before April 15th. Its been more than the 3-5 weeks it usually takes them so I don't really like it either haha

He applied in January - was missing the EC list of activities, didn't check his email account where they requested the missing info. We called, found out what was missing, got it sent in, and heard back a couple of weeks later.

SAT 1470/2130, GPA about 3.5 unweighted, but with about 10 AP's and most of the rest Honors. UF GPA is 3.9, Bright Futures 4+.

Edit - he got a letter in the mail with his acceptance.
If in doubt, call. They got right back to us with the info we needed to complete the application.

MysteryTime - I emailed the Honors College. They pulled up my information and said that they still have not decided, and that they need to wait until the deadline to see if I will be in the top 10%.

My stats:
1250 SAT
27 ACT

I am signed up to take both test once again so that I will receive 100% Bright Futures.

I'm probably in the same boat as you, as I'm just at a 28 ACT. I emailed the honors college a few weeks ago and they never responded, so maybe I'll try again

hey mom2three how long would u say it normally takes for them to reply? I just sent in my application a week ago to the Honors College. I have a 4.0 unweighted and SAT 1420/2050.

Marlin, I sent mine in back in the end of december, got an acceptance about a couple days after the new years. So if you're a strong applicant, I think then turn around is quite speedy!

Marlins,
D received her honors invite the same time she was accepted. She sent it in right away and they accepted her within the next week or two. She was like you, with a 4.0 u.w. Then ... it was quite awhile later that they sent her a letter that she'd been offered an honors scholarship (separate from the pegasus gold she'd already received). That came out of thin air; we didn't know that they had honors scholarships. We sent them a nice letter last week, regretably turning them down.

I wish that my SAT and ACT scores were higher. I studied hard for every test and all I could get was a 1250 SAT and a 27 ACT. Too bad that by the time I take both tests again they will have already made their decision.

Zebes - If you don't mind sharing... how much was the honors scholarship? Just wondering.

^^^
$1,000 ... we called it her "signing bonus." :)

I saw her stats and they are amazing. No wonder why UCF wants her. I was accepted to UF also, but my final decision was UCF-- hopefully I will be accepted to Honors in order to make this decision a little easier.

knightforum,

My s loves it at UCF, and he loves Burnett, too. If you get invited, I'd definitely go that way. Good luck to you!

I applied in October with a 1280 and 3.7 unweighted. I've sent them updates throughout the course of the year but have not heard back except for their deferment letter that I will hear back by April 15th. So, unless you have stellar scores it seems you've gotta sweat it out and hope! Kind of fustrating but honors only wants the best of the best :P

haha yea it is pretty frustrating...I emailed the honors college to confirm whether or not they received my package i sent last week with updated documents on Sunday night but they never emailed me back. Thats the second email they haven't responded to. I don't like the signs of that! haha

Well I submitted mine in December, and I thought that was too late... I spent a lot of time on my essays and other materials.

Yea I sent mine in in January, and sent more documents last week. It really is hard since there isn't a way to track your status online. I'm driving through Orlando to see some family this weekend and may try to stop by UCF and the honors college, although that probably won't do anything...

Well, by or before April 15.. we will all know.

Yup...thing is I feel the later it goes the less of a chance there is...maybe not but who knows

hopefully we can all get in :/ it's only been a week since I applied so I expect to wait a little more, hopefully no more than 2 weeks. But I think your right mystery, the more time goes on the harder it may to get in because they will have less spots and it will get really competative.

I am thinking on the bright side - top students that have been accepted may be rejecting the honors acceptance, which I have seen a lot of so far, which will leave room for students like us, those who do extremely well academically, but are not good test takers. I know that I can handle honors and that I am meant to be in honors, there is no doubt there, and I believe that my honors essay proved that.

Whatever the outcome, we will all be successful, and if we are rejected, maybe it was just not meant to be and we will find another path to take that will be better for us.

To me its not about the perks of honors either.. since I will not even think about spending an extra $1000 a semester on the Towers.
