yankees3311: I know people who didn’t know until Feb. Still time.

Finally got Honors College acceptance today! I had pretty much given up on dd getting into it since she got her SC acceptance over Christmas along with the “you’ll get at least this much scholarship” letter and we hadn’t heard anything else. Since she applied for International Business, this is a big relief with the automatic acceptance into it. Now to wait for the final financial aid package…

DD was declined last week by the Honors College but not a big surprise. They were good enough to be accepted to UNC-Chapel Hill OOS, though, so we have another great option in our pocket. Congratulations to those who were accepted - it sounds like a great program (and you get to live on the Horseshoe, luckies!).

BXVI - so your dd was accepted to UNC OOS but not accepted to South Carolina honors? Hmmmm…goes to show that you just never know. Mine was rejected from UNC but accepted back in December for South Carolina honors!

Has anyone heard of successfully appealing another look for Honors College? D was invited to Capstone but is not interested in the non-academic parts of Capstone. I think she has a compelling reason to have them look at her app again - she got an 800 on the essay, total 2170 SAT. I know their standard answer is that she can transfer into Honors College after she is there, but it would make it so much easier for housing if she was in from the git-go. IF IT IS possible to request a second look, who would be the person to contact?

I guess just check with honors college. The difficulty will be that I think they use the honors essays and ECs extensively in choosing final students…and that’s pretty subjective. Of the 2011 class of admitted students, 75% had 1380 or above on CR + M on SAT and stats have risen since then. The question to ask is do they accept any more into honors as they have student decline offers…which students have until May 1 to do (which is also housing deadline). I don’t know the answer, but good luck.
