My daughter is not in the Honors College at her university, and she tells us that she definitely made the right decision. She is so happy being able to focus all of her energies on her MT classes.

In high school, the honors and AP classes took up so much of her time that she never felt able to work as hard as she wanted to on her theater interests. She was frustrated and felt pulled in many different directions–almost as if her various teachers were fighting over her! Now, she’s enjoying the fact that everyone is on the same team–with the same goals for her and her education.

momarmarino, my D is in the Honors College, pursuing her BFA in Musical Theatre and also a minor in French. PM me if you want specific details.

When she applied to her 14 schools, we carefully investigated each school’s Honors Program to see #1) If it offered any financial perks #2) If it was simply MORE work or more indepth and growth work and #3) If Honors “played well” with Musical Theatre.

I’d be happy to share what we discovered at those 14 schools, (IU, USC, CCU, Elon, FSU, PSU, PPU, CCM, Wagner, WMU, BSU, Pace, OCU, TCU,) because frankly, at some schools it isn’t even worth wasting the time applying.

I also have information on CSUF. D took NYU, UMich, and any Ivies off the list due to high costs and little merit aid, so can’t help there.
