Oh, and if we accept admission into the Honors college, will we get a spot in South Quad no matter when we accept (as long as it's before May 1)? If so, what's the point of accepting admission earlier?

do you find out about the honors college right when you're accepted? i was accepted two days ago but no honors college yet....or financial aid....ahhh

same question as bulldog here

You can send them an e-mail requesting consideration for the Honors College, giving your reasons why you believe you would belong in it. Response time is about 4 weeks after initial acceptance. Some students appear to have found out within days, and perhaps they were invited into the program by UM, and di not have to "ask".

Why is UM letting people know of merit awards in mid-April.... there is really no time to plan a visit at that point, for those out-of-staters who are not willing to pay $37,000, but would go to UM for $27,000.

Really, how many out-of-state students here are going to UM no matter what?

if we got into the lsa honors program do we have to confirm that we're willing to be a part of it? if so, how? (i lost my acceptance letter, but i've definitely got the water bottle :-))

I've heard enough about this !#@%#&#@^# water bottle.

Unless you are going to send me one....keep it to yourself!!!!!!!!@

i've requested the honors college consideration long before my application was finished.

do you have to send them an email about the honors college? i dont remember reading that anywhere on the website....
i thought you just checked the box on the app that said you wanted to be considered and then they would tell you...

Yes, you could have done that, but in your acceptance letter, somewhere, it tells you that you can e-mail the Honors request to them. Probably on the website too.

Wait, I did not get a water bottle.

how long after your admission from umich did you get your invitation to honors lsa?
what about the extra merit scholarships?

i got mine about two weeks after (got my acceptance letter back on dec 15, then i requested a review of my file via email), but i don't remember when i got the merit scholarship info (separate).

Stats of those who got into the Honors College??? I got my acceptance mid March. A.) when are financial aid packages available??? and B.) I thought I had a pretty good shot at Honors College, but I guess not, what's this i hear about asking them to review my app for the college or is it too late??

thanks

Accepted into honors college:
1510/800/800/750
State medalist in debate and math team and stuff
National Merit finalist

A) I just got my financial aid package a couple weeks ago, and i got accepted some time in november, and I got into Honors December 13 I believe. I didnt get any sort of scholarship, kinda bummed about that.
B)You can email them asking for consideration and it may expedite the process, I'm not sure. I don't think it's too late to do so, but I would recommend giving it a try by sending an email to the honors person asking for consideration.

chibears, I am shocked that as a NM finalist, Michigan did not offer you a scholarship to lure you? And you applied early too. Wow, so everyone else should lose hope the.
I guess you got into a lot of good schools and don't really care at this point.

accepted...

I wonder which is better - graduating from the regular LSA w/ a 3.5 gpa or graduating from Honors LSA w/ a 3.0....? I guess its a negligible difference.

No, be careful. A 3.5 GPA is the same, whether you graduate from honors or not. Although the average Honors student is slightly better tyhan the average non-honors student, the grading is also a little easier for honors students, so it evens out.

Alexandre, can you clarify what you mean about grading being easier for honors students. Also, does being in honors (and doing well) help a student with admittance to Ross business school?
