S got the email, too. It came from UofSC’s admissions office. Top Scholars is offered through the Honors College, right? They may be independent processes.
Most likely a part of merit calculations for March release.
We got that email today and my daughter was accepted to UofSC in Dec and is hoping for Capstone. Honors college test scores seem to be much higher this year so she won’t make it. I am thinking everyone promised scholarships got it.
Our oldest (CA resident/AP student/Eagle Scout/ACT 35) was admitted to HC in early December with no promised scholarship, so we are still anxiously awaiting potential Top Scholars info! Looks like it should be next Tuesday…we are ready to make some decisions here at our house!
@TustinMama there was no scholarship awarded with his UofSC acceptance? With those stats, and early Honors College admission, I assume he would have been awarded the OOS tuition waiver.
@TustinMama , I couldn’t believe what I just read that your son did not receive a promised scholarship. I just re-read my son’s hc acceptance letter and it says “All Honors College freshmen qualify for a merit award from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions” Merit offers come in March-usually the first week.
and as @ShrimpBurrito said, there is an OOS waiver already promised to some high achieving students

I really really hope so, would stink If S got passed over. she really really wants this
Add me to the list of those who received the email today… Not sure what to make of it. Anyone admitted early to HC who did NOT receive it?
My S was accepted into Honors College in December and we also received that email today. I am hoping that it is not related to top scholars selections .
I feel like we’re all trying to read the tea leaves! However, I think @ShrimpBurrito is probably right that the mass email was probably sent by admissions and is not linked to Top Scholars.
Outside of Top Scholars, does anyone know how many OOS Alumni Scholars are awarded?
Got email today also. Am thinking is just reminder for any late test takers to make sure everything has been submitted.
My daughter also received the email to verify her test scores. She applied to the HC, but hasn’t heard anything yet. In her acceptance letter, there was mention of a minimum $ scholarship, but more could be awarded We’re hoping for in-state tuition rates. (Obviously we’re OOS.)
We received the email also but my son has not been offered HC admission. My son did get one of the “at least” merit awards but not in state tuition (he is OOS).
We also got the email today. We are OOS. Anxiously awaiting Top Scholar information.
I got the email today as well - I didn’t get accepted to the HC yet but I did get the tuition decrease to in-state
If you got an “at least” letter do you think there is a chance the scholarship amount could go up? My daughter’s letter was 2 scholarship levels below the one that was mentioned in an earlier letter received after she applied, but before she applied for HC. Are the “at least” numbers safety numbers?
My son received the ACT email too. He did NOT apply to Honors College (so it isn’t tied to that). He did receive an “at least in-state tuition” with his acceptance letter to USC.
My DS received the email as well. He didn’t apply to Honors College and he is OSS that received at least in-state tuition $ amount with the acceptance letter to USC.
I just assumed it was for updating scores if any student had “new” scores. It is similar to an email that he received before he was admitted.
