Hello

I want to be in the MSU Honors College but unfortunately my hs class rank is too low to be in as a freshman.

Does anyone know if it is difficult to get in as a sophomore? Their website says:
[quote]
MSU first year students who achieve a 3.50 or better GPA at the end of their first semester are eligible to apply to the Honors College to be accepted as sophomores./quote

Then there are some forms to fill out, etc.
If you get a 3.5 and do all the forms, are you basically guaranteed to get in? Or are people sometimes denied admission?

If anyone has (or knows someone who has) tried to get in as a sophomore I'd really appreciate any input. Thanks

I went to a meeting about joining the honors college as a sophomore last month. Basically you have to schedule an appointment with one of the advisers, figure out what honors classes you want to take, get some forms signed by advisers within your major, and write a short essay about what you hope to get out of the honors college and how the honors college will benefit you. That is what you do before you actually meet with the honors college adviser.

From the meeting I got a sense that if you did all the work required, along with getting your schedule to work with the honors college and do other things they ask you to do you will most likely get in.

msuspartan is right. I got into the Honors College as a Sophomore. As long as you maintain at least a 3.5 GPA during your first year and have all of the forms submitted on time, you should have no trouble getting in.

ok cool, that's good to hear

thanks guys
