OK, I just looked at the required stats to be in the honors college, and I have the 30 ACT, but I am top 7%. I submitted a 30 ACT, but have retaken and gotten a 32. My rank also may go up at the end of the semester. Do I have a chance of getting in if I send in my new scores and rank, or do they have no flexability? Any answers would be great. Thanks.

MSU Honors College seems to go by ACT or SAT and grade point averages. That's about all I know. Anybody else know the answer?

Sorry, I was wrong on what I just said. I was thinking the Academic Scholars program at MSU. Maybe you will be invited to that.

I was invited to that, which was when I realized that I wasn't invited to the Honors College. MSU is my saftey school, but if I were to end up there, I would want to be in the honors college. I'm going to call some time and ask about admissions, as I will probably be really close to top 5% (even more so then now) and my ACT is a 32 now. They did say that they would consider applications on the borderline.

You guys can get invited to the Honors College if you maintain a 3.5 or above your freshman year. It's not over yet.

My son's rank is in the top 1 percent but he got a 28 on the ACT. He was invited to join Academic Scholars. He was also told he had another chance to join Honors College if he keeps his grades 3.5 or higher at MSU.

^^ that seems rather unfair.

why does it seem unfair?

I called, they said that they would consider, the only reason they didn't before was because of a "downward trend" last year which was like 5 A-'s instead of all A's, but that was cause I had 2 APs, etc. I'm sending my new ACT (2 pts better) and my midyear transcript, since I should have gone up in rank.

That's great! It's nice you have another chance.
