Honors College

Anyone know anything about it? How good is it especially in the humanities? Compared to a LAC?

I want to bump this… because I’d also love to know more about Honors too! I plan on applying for it once I get an essay back from my teacher.

I don’t think people check this board very often, but you or I could try posting this in the main college search forum.

I just graduated from Western and although I wasn’t in the Honors College, I have friends who are/were. Most of them like it and find it worthwhile for getting GURs out of the way because the program offers, for example, classes like Honors Biology and Honors Economics (or similar). This way they can take GUR classes but with similarly motivated students and go more in-depth into the material. However, if you’re coming in with an associate’s already, or most of your GURs done already, then it might not be worth it. My roommate is in that situation, and she finds the honors requirements a waste of time (although she just finished a book binding class that she decided made the whole program worth it, so there are good classes offered). Sorry I can’t be more help with the specifics, but that’s pretty much all I know about the Honors program.
