I need to visit Pitt- I'm really not sure it's for me, but the scholarship I was offered is too good to not at least consider. Has anyone had any experience attending the Honors Day programs? Are they significantly different from more general visitation? Is there any possible way to arrange a visit outside of Honors Days that might be comparable (obviously, without seminars or anything) to most of the information provided?
Any experience/impressions of the Honors Day program would be appreciated. I'm trying to decide if it's worth my time to come out specifically for the Honors Day (I'm across-the-country OOS) or if I should compound the visit to Pitt with my other college visits during my Spring Break, which doesn't coincide with either Honors Day in 2007.

Okay, decision made without any input- I am going to the Honors Day on March 16th. Anyone else going?

We wanted to go to one of the Honors Days, but can't make it to either one. Could you post what you did and your thoughts on it? From the pamphlet we got on it, it didn't seem too different than one of the Admitted Student days or one of the other big days they put on for prospective students. I think they will discuss the Honors College though in much more depth than they would for any of the other visits. We will be going to an Admitted Students day at the end of the month. This will be our third visit there and we have found that we learn a little something new every time we go.

I thought honors day was well worth it. The program given by the engineering school was more extensive than the general visit days. In fact, I think that was the visit that made my son want to attend Pitt over some other colleges.

In case you can't visit in March, a rep of the Honors College will meet with you another time if you contact HC. Pitt seems to be accommodating when it comes to discussing the HC with prospective students.

Cool. I'll definitely post after I go to give my impressions. I'm also going to be getting a cello lesson while I'm there, and I'll be sure to post my reactions both to the honors Day and my experience with the music side of things to give two perspectives.

Let us know what you think of Pitt, gracello. I'd love to hear a west coaster's view on the school.
