Do upperclassmen have to make honors housing their first choice? Last year, IIRC, there was a notation that the honors dorms had to be the first choice. This year, we don't see that notation. Does anyone know if it's possible to list honors dorms as 3rd choice and have it really be the third choice?

Also different this year is a choice among the honors dorms. Andrews, Blanton and Carothers each appear on the drop down menu. However, at the bottom of the page, there is a notation that "your room assignment will be in one honors residence halls regardless of building preference." If this is the case, why do students have the option of choosing individual honors dorms?

bumping in hopes UTHousing will respond.

where can you choose individual honors dorms? on my housing page the drop down menu only lists ‘honors’ as a choice.

On my son’s page update housing page, it has a choice of the room he is in now (in an honors dorm), Andrews, Blanton, Carothers or “Honors.” He is a freshman now, so maybe that just shows up for upperclassmen?

I don’t think you get the choice as an incoming freshman. I think it is only for those returning to the honors dorms for a second year.

My son got part of his answer today from housing. Upperclassmen still have to choose “honors” as their first choice. We’re still not sure whether they will honor his choice if he chooses Andrews or Carothers over Blanton.

Does that make sense to you? It really doesn’t to me.

No. I don’t understand why you can’t choose a specific honors dorm. It’s honors or not- honors, period.
