Honors Housing openings, but hurry

Some Honors Residential Communities vacancies have opened up, per this email from about noon today. But you have to hurry to get a spot.

Dear Hutton Honors College student,

This year we have an unusual situation in that we have had some last minute vacancies open in our Honors Residential Communities (HRCs). There is much competition for these spots and some of you may have requested an HRC floor originally, but been assigned elsewhere, as the floors were all for the most part filled at one point. HRCs are a fantastic place for HHC students to begin life at IUB. Each Honors floor accommodates 50 HHC students who form a strong community, like a family. There are often returning HHC students on these floors who can help with difficult classes, and you will find many of the IUB campus leaders living on Honors floors. Honors floors are places where students can actually study, as there are quiet hours, but there are also many exciting activities planned—such as dances, dinners, camping trips and trips to Chicago, Washington DC, or other cities. Many HRC students make friends for life with those on their floor and many then move into off-campus housing with friends from their HRC floor. Many HHC students find it very supportive to live with other students who have their level of commitment to academics and leadership.

At this point we have some spots in each of the three neighborhoods (SE, Central & NW) and in Willkie for returning students. If you would like a spot on one of these Honors floors you need to contact housing@indiana.edu immediately, and put Hutton Honors housing in the subject line, indicating which neighborhood you would prefer (or Willkie, if that is your choice), but also what your second choice of neighborhood would be, if you have a second choice. It would be a good idea to also copy me, Assistant Dean Lynn Cochran, lcochran@indiana.edu, so I will have a record of your request. These spots will not last long, so you will need to make your request in the next 24 hours if possible. This is a great opportunity and I hope you will take advantage of it!

Best,

Lynn
