I was wondering if anyone else that asked for an honors roommate and put Cobb as their number 1 choice didn't get it? I thought it was pretty much a given... I got Hinton James instead... Can anyone tell me good things about this dorm compared to Cobb? Also, even though Im not in Cobb, i should still have an honors roommate if i asked for one right?
Thanks!

I asked for Cobb and got it. Although I still don’t know the name of my roommate…

Cobb is more centrally located - and I’ve heard good and bad things from kids there. One kid loved it and is staying there again, another, did not like it, felt like the floor was too uptight. They have quiet hours - most other dorms don’t - that I’m aware of. Honors kids, as I understand it, can be placed anywhere, although many often end up in Cobb. Hinton James, known as HoJo, is south campus, a very freshman dorm. I don’t think you will find upper classmen there unless they are RA’s. I would think you would get an honors roommate.

I’m an honors incoming freshman, and I’ll be staying in Hinton James (HoJo) in the fall, too. Only, I specifically requested it. I’ve mostly heard from people that Cobb is a bit uptight, something I definitely don’t want in my freshman year dorm.

Anyway, HoJo’s always described as the “social dorm” for freshmen. It’s a really nice way to meet new people, mostly because it’s big (it holds 850ish people) and most of its residents are freshmen, so everyone’s looking to meet new people. Sure, the dorm rooms themselves are pretty small and cramped, but if you get creative you can typically make ends meet. And, for most people I know who have stayed there, the experience is definitely worth the lesser quality of the dorm itself.

Honestly, I don’t really buy into the whole idea of each dorm having its own “personality.” I mean sure it’s easier to meet new people in HoJo but I doubt that by living Cobb you’ll never have a social life and die a virgin (ok exaggerating there).

I asked for the Middle dorms and Cobbs. The freshmen dorms were my least favorite because of their location ><
