I was accepted into the honors program at Ohio State, and I’m wondering how easy it will be to get the housing I want. I would really like to live in Taylor Tower because living in a suite style dorm would be ideal. I also really want to live on north campus because I am majoring in engineering. I have recently committed, but I have not received any information yet about applying for housing. Am I guaranteed a place in one of the three honors dorms and can I choose which one I want? I think I read that OSU does housing on a first come, first serve basis, so is it already too late for me to have a say in where I live?
If you want Taylor Tower, you’ll get it for sure, it’s not in very high demand. Also, are you aware that the old North campus quads (like those found in Taylor Tower) aren’t really “suites” in the traditional sense?
Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better. I have looked at the floor plans for Taylor Tower, so I do know that they are not traditional suites.
Is honors housing guaranteed? My daughter still hasn’t made her decision on whether to attend OSU and now I am becoming worried whether she will get into honors housing.
If you want to be in honors housing it is pretty much always accomodated, just make sure if she decides on OSU to indicate she wants honors housing and she should be good to go. @greentravel
Thanks! This will allow her not to feel so pressured to make her decision when she isn’t quite ready.
I wouldn’t worry too much about honors housing, a LOT (probably a decent majority, in my experience) of honors students choose to live elsewhere because the three honors dorms (Taylor, Lincoln, and Bradley) all kind of suck in their own way.
