Honors Housing

I am trying to decide whether I want to choose honors housing ( I will be in the Honors Program). I will be honest I am a little worried I will be perceived a certain way and will only be able to make friends who are also in the Honors Program. It’s not necessarily just about partying, but I do like to have fun and not spend my whole time in college studying. Anyone have any input?

This is speaking from experience. Honors housing offers you a chance to form extremely tight relationships with those you live with. Not everyone in honors housing is in the honors program but a majority of them are. Living in honors does not restrain your ability to engage in social activities in any manner so no need to worry about that. If you’re a sociable person there should really be no reason to worry.

Perks: you’ll be living with other honors students who will probably be in your honors class so you guys can work together etc. RA’s are usually never a problem.

Cons: the set up is kind of weird; Medeiros is split into 3 “towers” A, B, and C. C is all guys, and B&A are all girls. Each tower has two lounges, a study lounge and a TV lounge. Unlike traditional dorms, you won’t find long hallways of rooms here. I don’t really see this as a con tho…

At the end of the day, being in honors housing guarantees you a spot on Upper, so the hassle of taking busses between Newton and main campus is something you’ll never have to experience.

I can also speak from experience. I loved honors housing and continued to live in it through junior year! My current roommates and many of my best friends at BC were made through honors housing. It is a very tight-knit community but not cliquey, in my experience. I think you’ll find that it’s definitely worth it.

Are there forced triples in honors housing?

@nocturne21 No. There are, however, two natural triples (each with its own full bathroom) and one quad (not sure about bathroom for this one). These rooms are randomly selected. Every other room is a double.
