Honors Medical Program

Does anyone know about the seven year medical program at Northwestern? Is it hard to get into? How many kids do they choose every year? What is the average SAT score? Do thye offer scholaships? Thanks!

it is very hard, the hardest i think. i heard the average SAT is like 1550. NU offers 0 to few scholarships (but if you play football you will get $$$). you also cant apply ED.

What's this about not offering any scholarships for HPME? Whattt?...

NU gives excellent need based finacial aid. Also, I seriously doubt they hold back specifically for HPME students.

i thought they were removing the hpme program (or closing to future applicants) oh well, lucky if they still have it =)

they're removing it soon, they haven't removed it yet

there might be a minor exception or two but northwestern doesnt give academic scholarships, they only give need-based and athletic ones, im pretty sure they meet 100% of need though

I think I read somewhere at their med school website that they are going to reduce the size of HPME, not removing it. The reason is the quality of students through regular admission has gotten better and now NU med school admission is one of the most selective. There's a gap between the quality (overall) of those from HPME and those through regular admission. They want to make the HPME even more selective so the HPME group will be as good as those through regular admission. Another thing they'll (or have already done?) do is to raise the minimum undergrad (or science?) GPA any HPME has to maintain from 3.2 to 3.5.
