Anyone in the honors college, or on a pre med track (their three MCAT waiving tracks). Just trying to learn what I can about these options. Or just the normal aiming for med school student?

Access to research, opinion of science classes, teachers, etc??

Thanks!!

Not in Texas Tech but curious about what you mention.

What are the three MCAT waiving tracks?

I’m a Pre med in the honors college trying to do their program for waving the MCAT. I also know lots of honors students in the UMSI program. I think that Tech is a great place to be for an access to Pre med opportunities, and the honors college only enriches that. Through the honors college there are ways to get good research opportunities, and a lot of the professors are willing to let you assist them if you show initiative. The Bernard Harris Pre Med Society at Tech also gives you shadowing, clinical, and volunteer opportunities. Plus Lubbock has no lack of hospitals and has the med school that allow college students to help out. I highly recommend Tech for Pre med.

The science classes are good, although the general classes like Chem 1 and Bio 1 are fairly large. If you take them honors you can have a smaller class with more individualized attention. Tech does everything possible to help you succeed, which I think is different than the other big Tx schools. If you make the effort, you are not just a number and will have many great opportunities wherever your future may lead you.
