I was accepted into the Honors Program at Lincoln Center for the Class of 2021 and I was wondering if anyone could give any insight on what the program is like. In the email, they said they only offer 16 students a place in the program. How do honors courses compare to regular courses? Is it worth it to do honors? Are the honors courses exceedingly difficult? Do people with honors receive more merit later on in the process?
Hi! I was just accepted to the Honors Program at Lincoln Center as well and I’ve been wondering the same things.
Congratulations! I was accepted to Rose Hill but not to the honors program. I was curious as to what your credentials are. Thanks
I have a 33 ACT and a 2220 SAT and a 4.0 UW (my school doesn’t do weighted) with 10 APs
Yes, it’s worth it. There are one or two honors classes you take each semester, all 16 of you together, the rest of your classes are regular core classes. But the core requirements are somewhat different and easier than for everyone else, making it easier to take on a minor or double major.
I wasn’t sure I wanted my daughter to accept. I figured that she worked so hard in high school, I wanted her to not choose a stressful college track. I asked the professor in charge of the program at the time, and she said, “if you are chosen for the honors program, you do it. No one turns it down.”
One of the best perks is there is a classroom set aside only for the honors kids, and I can’t tell you how often my daughter went up there when she needed quiet and her suitemates were partying… Or she needed to facetime an internship interview. Or just wanted someplace to hang. (At RH, I think they have their own house or something, but at least at LC, you get a room.)
