I'm starting UT Austin in the fall and I was wondering if being in the honors program would look better on a med school application then not being in the honors program? (I'm pursuing a B.S. in psychology so it would be the liberal arts honors program, if that makes a difference)

Yes, if you can still make top-notch grades in those honors classes! Did you go to the pre-med session at orientation at UT? The woman stressed that top grades are absolutely essential, in addition to showing volunteer experience working with people from different socio-economic classes (I wouldn’t have thought of that requirement, so I’m glad she mentioned it).

I actually wasn’t able to attend that session but thanks for mentioning that, i’ll definitely look into it. And i didn’t apply to the honors program for this year but I am considering it for next year

Honors classes are not harder, sometime they need a bit more work. Overall, they seems to be better because class sizes are much smaller. D. is a senior in Honors at state school, I do not know how it affects Med. School acceptance though. She got all As, I do not think it matters much Honors or not.
