Are honors colleges/programs really as difficulty as people on sites like CC claim? I mean, I understand the honors programs of schools like Michigan, UCLA, Virginia, etc being selective, but apparently so's less renowned schools like the University of Central Florida and Auburn, apparently. Can I pretty easy to get in school have a super hard to get into honors college?

(I applied to UCF's a couple of weeks ago so I want to know if I had a chance. I know of people who got in with my stats/lower as later/later but those were in the past and EVERYBODY says it's getting harder to get into. I, ah, tend to stress. X) Thanks! )

If I understand your question, I think you are asking is it difficult to get accepted into the honors program of a university/college.

Some institutions post the requirements on their website, such as a minimum SAT/ACT score, GPA, and class rank.

Have you been accepted to UCF yet? Some schools notify you of your acceptance to honors along with your acceptance to the school, and others notify you later. I’m not familiar with UCF’s procedure.

Are you asking if honors colleges are hard to get into? Or are you asking if the honors classes are harder?

Some schools only admit a small number of students into their honors programs, so those are harder to get into. Some admit most/all that qualify based on stats.

Typically the courses aren’t “harder”, but they’re more enriching, more discussion-based, etc. The classes are often smaller and taught by the best profs.

At some schools, there is no specific honors program, but there are honors courses in some subjects. These are generally expected to be more in-depth and harder than the regular versions of the courses.

My son got admitted to honors programs at Minn, UIUC & NU- the schools put him into the programs automatically based on his grades and test scores.
