Hi everyone, what is the difference in housing for the honors and regular admitted students aside from the fact that honors are in the same building? Is it suite style? What other perks do they get over regular admitted? Thank you.
For Freshman year, the honors have been housed in the newest building - EV which has AC (none of the other freshman housing does) and is double rooms with a bathroom in between. So only the four students share that bath (and are responsible for cleaning and stocking it). EV is also the most expensive freshman housing option (because of the amenities I mentioned). I believe honors freshman must live in EV
After first year, buildings will be designated as honors only (not the same ones each year). These are typically in West Village, and are suite style double/singles with shared baths and kitchens. Honors students can choose to live in honors or not, which is a slight perk as it gives you more rooms to choose from. WV buildings are pretty nice - again with AC.
To me that is the biggest perk of honors. Other things are access to honors only sections of intro classes (so they may be able to take a calc class designated as honors and having only 16 students, instead of a big lecture calc class with a separate smaller recitation section.) There are also honors only electives and dialogue classes (summer abroad class). These change from year to year.
