Honors Program Notification?

If you're accepted to the honors program, do you get notified when you receive your Rutger's acceptance? I was accepted to SAS in early November, but haven't received any info on the honor's program. I wrote the optional essay, and from my understanding that was all that was necessary for consideration for honors?

i dont think anyone has heard about honors yet, but i’m curious as to when we hear whether or not we’ve been accepted and if we have earned any merit aid. does anyone know?

For SAS the following apply:
1)If you meet certain criteria you will automatically be offered admission to the honors program(should come with admission letter)
2)If you dont meet the criteria you have to APPLY(write another essay, rec letter, resume etc…).Those who apply find out in late March and its competitive.
Scholarship Notifications start coming out in late January.

hvairline: If you don’t meet that criteria and have to apply, what is the deadline for that application? Are there any extra forms to fill?
Thanks

@acsvcr
i checked your stats and you do meet the criteria for admission. You should get a letter from the honors program soon.Congrats!

Oh Thanks! It’s actually my daughter, and she improved her sat scores from what I posted before…how can you find my stats?

I got the letter for the honors program.
It didnt come with the folder but rather in another evelope from the SAS.
And i think if you want, you can call them and ask them about it.
I hope this helps.

I’m pretty sure I meet the honors program requirements, but I didn’t receive any notifications… jklol, this might sound stupid, but do you mean the envelope from SAS was INSIDE the admissions envelope? or that it came separately as in it was mailed separately?

i guess it wasnt clear.
different date after i got the fIt came seperately at a older.
It was like 1 to 2 weeks after.

Any idea of exactly how competitive it is to get into the Rutgers Honors Program?
I’m afraid that my stats may be a little low: 3.65 GPA, 1930 SAT (1340 M+CR), and rank 18/280something. To make things worse, I only have about 4 extra curriculars that I’ve actually stuck to over the last four years.

I didn’t start improving my grades until 11th grade when I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. What do you think my chances are for getting into the Honors Program if I write a descent essay?

edit: any advice for dorming? I’m probably going to be a Biology major.

You get admitted to the honors program automatically if you are accepted into the School of Arts and Science and meet the following criteria:
-Ranked at least in top 10% of your high school graduating class

 • Have a total combined CR and Math SAT score of 1350 – the CR score must be at minimum 650; a score of 30 for the ACT

If you do not meet the criteria for automatic admission, you can always fill out an application (with an attached resume + letter(s) of rec(s) + required essay) and have a guidance counselor vouch for you.

As for dorming: Busch. Or if you are a girl, you could live on Douglass. But Busch is popular among the science majors. You do not have to necessarily live on Busch if you are science major. If you like College Avenue or Cook – whatever!-- you can pick that as your first choice for housing.

The advantage with the honors program is that you can dorm in special honors housing. Like on Busch, you get the advantage of living in the McCormick suites freshman year.

i got into the honors program on around november 20… i got into rutgers itself on november 10

Do you think I’d be able to get into the Honors Program? My CR is a bit lower than 650 =/.

How much harder are honors gen bio and chem than the regular classes? And do the honors seminars and colloquiums become time consuming/difficult?

Sorry about asking so many questions, I’m really trying not to overwhelm myself freshman year so I can start with a 3.7+ GPA.

Just got email with Honors Program notification. There was also an invitation to sign up for Honors Scholars Days - an open house discussing the program.

I got an email for the A&S Honors Program too.
