Hi everyone! I will be applying to GW for Regular Decision. It is one of my safety/target schools (4.0 UW GPA, 36 ACT, top 1% of class) so I believe that I would have a shot at getting into the Honors Program. However, I am looking to study finance in college and I was just wondering if you can be in the Honors Program and an undergraduate at the School of Business at the same time. And if not, which would be a better move - participating in the Honors Program or studying at the School of Business?
Thanks guys!
There are no major restrictions to those in Honors, so you can definitely do both! Just know that all Finance majors are required to double major outside of the business school. This does not include those who are getting a business degree with a finance concentration though.
@liveyourlife26 thank you for the information! Would it be difficult for me to obtain a second major in the Elliott School of International Affairs? I’ve heard it’s very competitive
When you first apply to GW, IA is typically seen as more competitive. However, when you’re at GW, no one is restricted from being an IA major. For example, those trying to completely switch to the Elliott school just have to fulfill certain requirements: https://elliott.gwu.edu/undergraduate-transfer-students If you are double majoring, you just have to complete the major courses of that school, but not the general education courses for that school (as other schools have different general education course requirements). Let me know if any of that didn’t make sense!
Thank you so much! It makes sense and I appreciate the help!
