Honors Program

I am going to be attending Hillsdale- planning on a major in Econ and minor in greek- beginning next fall, and I have received a letter about the Honors Program. I am wondering about the intensity of the program and the amount of time that would be required.

Thanks!

The Honors Program is tough, and requires significantly more time and effort. Find a student ambassador who is in the program and ask questions of them. From what I witnessed, those who loved it, loved it and those who didn’t, quit.

Okay, thanks. I am going to email the director of the honors program to ask him to direct me to a current member of the program, so that I can ask a few questions.

I think that I will apply. It sounds like something that I would really enjoy, and some extra rigor can’t hurt. If I truly don’t like it, I can always quit.

My son’s friend dropped out of the Honors program after only one year - too hard. My daughter’s friend, who is a freshman, LOVES it.

Good luck! and I hope you love it too!

Is the program really worth it in terms of its after college benefits ? I received an invitation letter and considering whether I should apply.

That probably depends as much on your post graduate plans as anything else. If you are entering your family business - honors is nice but really, did it matter except to you? If you plan on Harvard Law, probably is the way to go.

My plans are definitely slanted toward the latter although I am open to possibilities and dont believe in letting opportunities pass you by !!! :D
