Honors weekend in March

kreavtivekat - I will try my best! :)

Well, great work Gabby! He just got an email today saying he is off the waiting list and has a host now for Honors Weekend! Can’t wait to come down and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Praying it doesn’t rain!

It’s New Orleans. That takes a lot of praying!

Does anyone know when we get the email about our specific host?

Dadofdaughters, did you look at the Drury Inn on St. Charles? DD and I stayed at a Drury in New Orleans and had a great experience. I almost stayed there for Parents weekend but ended up getting in the Hampton. Check it out.

Meant to say DD and I stayed at a Drury in St. Louis. Sorry. When we were there, they had free cocktails and bar food in the early evening. Great deal. You can also find coupon codes for a better deal.

New Orleans can have some of the lowest rates i have ever seen on “hotwire.com”…the last time I visited Tulane (mid January) I got a 4.5 star hotel (Le Pavillon) for less than $120 per night total cost. Any “4 star plus” hotel they quote in “Downtown” area or “French Quarter” area will be very good and safe. $5 to $8 cab ride to Tulane.

Dadofdaughters, I live in large, East Coast city, and every time I’m in New Orleans, I’m pleasantly shocked at how easy the traffic is. Nothing compared to DC or Boston.

I’ve never had trouble parking within a few blocks of Tulane, but if I’m in the area, it’s generally when school is out. I’m sure it’s harder when school is in session.

Rainbowrose - you should be getting your hosts name very shortly. I was notified yesterday of who my student is.

I got my email today :)

gabby how did you sign up to host students? i really want to host someone but never received an email about signing up. the only person i know who was notified about it was notified by someone in his frat.

You an also call 1-800-873-9283

I’m not sure how other people found out, but my guy friend who is in Green Wave Ambassadors sent me the link, since he thought it was something I would be interested in. They need to do a better job and publicizing the opportunity to host prospies!!

Less than 2 weeks :)

Has anyone received their packet for the March Honors weekend yet?

My son has not rec’d his March honors wkd packet … we are in northern MI. I think he mentioned that it was to arrive via snail mail.

He was contacted by Admissions or the Honors office and his overnight stay host via email.

I am not sure there is a packet that is mailed. They may mail just the schedule. I know we got a packet when we registered at the LBC, a couple of years ago. I think you just show up. Is anyone sure there is a packet they are mailing? The schedule is on the web, as avenlea pointed out: [Tulane Admission: Honors](http://admission.tulane.edu/honorsweekend/index.php)

I can’t be sure, but you may be waiting for something that isn’t coming. Just be at the LBC a little before 10:30 on Sunday, after having a great breakfast at the Camellia Grill.

I remember reading somewhere (but for the life of me can’t remember where right now) that a packet would be sent the week before the honors weekend. So, I think a packet is coming but it shouldn’t be here yet. In any case, I am not sure that any more info is required, we have access to the schedules and the hosts have contacted us. What more is there to know?

I think you are right bajamm. I rather suspect, as I said, that the mailer will be the same schedule you see at the link and maybe a map as well. If they haven’t changed things much, the packets that get picked up at the LBC at 10:30 Sunday morning will contain coupons so you can spend money at the bookstore (lol) and a code your child can use for registering on line, along with other materials including another copy of the schedule, of course.

Everyone that is going have a great time! We expect full reports afterward.

My d is going to the honors weekend sort of alone, meaning neither her father nor I are going with her. I have a grad school friend in Baton Rouge that will meet my d at the airport on Saturday, make sure she gets checked in on Sunday, and spend some time with her at Tulane before my d meets her host, then go back on Monday to get her.

What do I need to make sure my friend and d knows, besides the schedule, the hosts name and phone number, and airport schedules?
