<p>I wanted to know how much difference will it make if i am a first generation college student from my family? Also, how much weightage do other hooks hold in the admissions proccess?</p>
<p>I’m not an expert - if you are otherwise a strong candidate it should give you a slight bump.</p>
<p>It is not a hook, it can be a tip factor at some schools. </p>
<p>Like everything on an application, the impact of a hook varies with the person/situation/school. Do you think an Olympic level athlete has the same degree of hook at a second stringer?</p>
<p>Check the college’s common data set, section C7, to see whether it is considered, and how strongly in comparison to other factors.</p>
