i applied as an engineering major. does it mean that i won't get in if i don't get one of those scholars letter, etc. thanks

that makes two of us =]

For like, Scholars Day? Nah. Don't worry. It's only sent out to like, the top 2000 applicants (according to the person who called my house, going "LOLATTENDSCHOLARZDAY!!" and I was like "LOLIDON'TEVENMISSSCHOOLWHENI'MSICKLOLZ!").

:] And trust me, they will DEFINITELY receive more than 2000 applicants.

Don't worry about it. <3 Good luck!

Which college did you apply to, BTW?

i put earl warren for my first choice. is that a good choice. i wasn't really thinking when i chose these. is that college harder to get in to?

Warren's a good choice. Few non-science GEs=good for science/engineering majors :D I don't think they admit specifically by college, but if your stats are low, they might just bump you to your second or third choice.

LOL ME TOO! GO WARREN!

Haha, I did a LOT of research~ I probably should've put Revelle instead, but eh.

Like Peppers said, I doubt that your choice of which college you wanted to go to will affect you much as far as accept/reject goes.

Just wondering, how is Warren for premed?

I was hesitant to put Revelle (which I heard is where many premeds go)...because it sounds scary.

I never got a scholar's letter but I keep getting emails from the Jacobs school of engineering. It seems they are trying to persuade me to go there... and the werid thing is the first email I received began the very same as the scholar's letter, "..top applicant" (the link at the bottom does say top meaning top 2000 students. Maybe im the #2000 and they're wary... =/

I think Warren's GEs are sufficient for pre-med, if not less. That's only going to be a benefit to you, since I believe Revelle requires 5 quarters of writing classes (total overkill considering you only need 3 for pre-med). Also, you'll be up to your neck in biology, physics, and chemistry classes as it is.

How is Muir? That's my first choice.

^ Muir is comprised of (if I remember correctly): A field, old dorms, Sun God (just a "cursed" statue), uh and a forest that leads to Giselle and the Price Center.
There are also tennis courts, bball courts, etc.
But it is close to the beach.

i graduated from revelle with a chemistry degree and loved my college, but would have gladly gone to muir too (none of the other colleges, though)

YE GO MUIR, no but muir is awesome. shoulda made it your first choice. easiest GE's, 2 dining halls, closest to beach.

That's great!

But they put me in Roosevelt :(

ERC = two years of MMW
The Making of the Modern World is a six-quarter sequence required of all ERC students. It is designed to encourage thinking historically, comparatively, and in an interdisciplinary way about the Western and non-Western cultures studied in the course sequence. Disciplinary perspectives include those from literature, history, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, political science, and the fine arts. Students examine and interpret primary documents and artifacts from diverse eras and cultures, and enhance their understanding with information gained from secondary sources.

Thanks, collegemom. Doesn't sound so bad.

I heard there are mostly girls at ERC. Is that true? ^_^

They pull me in Elenor Roosevelt too. How's their engineering program?

^
college selection only determines GE's, not your major
