In an envelope with bubblewrap there was a card that starts with, "Congratulations on being a top-achieving freshman applicant to the University of California, San Diego!" and goes on to talk about Scholars' Day, which is on March 9, RSVP by March 2. There was also a jewel case (like those used for CDs) with cards for each month, so it's a calendar, I guess.

It seems like on Scholars' Day, each UCSD school will be hosting its own session in the morning; I had applied to engineering so the Jacobs School of Engineering sent me a separate letter with a card invitation to a special engineering school-specific session and one of those flimsy plastic static stick-ons that people put on windows.

That said, an invitation to Scholars' Day appears to be an early letter of admission; akin to the Berkeley Regents' interview, upon going to the event, applicants are notified of their acceptances. Neither letter formally specifies this, but it appears to be true, if only by precedent.

That said, if you got the letter, congratulations! you have another acceptance letter...

I'm in the Bay ARea too. Did you get one too theantithesisof?

I really want one, as UCSD is my third choice UC. Do you think I'll get one? I have 2220 SAT and about 4.2 weighted UC GPA, and 770 and 750 SAT II, with UCLA Regents and first generation. oh no i will not get one omg. aw-ooh-eeowh!

so I went to the website they specified and the itinerary pretty much gives it away:

me too, but I totally forget how I ranked them, and I'm way too lazy to reach into my files right next to me and check.. I wonder if we get priority as to which schools we get?

^ No, I don't think we should totally give up hope yet... for whatever reason I always get these types of letters from colleges about two days after everyone else (and I live in CA)

^ By "invite" do you mean you got Regents? Because if you got Regents at UCLA I'm sure you'll get invited to Scholar's Day. From what I've heard, getting invited to Scholar's Day doesn't necessarily mean you got Regents, it just means you're a "high achieving applicant."

Yeah i got the Regents invite from LA but I still haven't gotten the Scholar's Day thingy. Does the scholar's day thingy mean that you might have a chance for regents at SD?

hmm do we have to go to this Scholar thing- what i mean is if we dont go, will it affect my chances.
i got this scholars day thing but the date wont fit in my schedule since i have to go the Berkeley regent interview the next day

I'm pretty sure you don't have to, because it is on a random Friday (on which I'm sure most students have school) on the UCSD campus (which must be pretty far away from most applicants).

I'm curious about dianal's question as well.

Does this only come in the mail? Did anyone get any other emails for this or any indication in an email about Scholar's Day? I've yet to get anything (Only gotten the UCSD Medical Program Invitation and top applicant at Jacobs School of Engineering) related to Scholar's Day period. I have 2250 SAT I; 770M + 690V; 33 ACT; 4.2 UC GPA; and I've only gotten Regents at UC Irvine so far. I really hope I get this :(
