So, I recently put in my application for the 2018 Fall semester. At the same time, I got a rejection letter from FSU for the simple fact that I was missing a class that was a prereq (Business Calc). My highest math is Pre-Calc, so I’m curious if Business Calc (or Calc 1) is a prereq that needs to be completed before being accepted. I planned to call tomorrow but figured I’d ask here too. On that note, is there any other class that’s mandatory other than the obvious eco courses?
Thanks!
Here is the link to the courses you should have as a transfer student: http://www.usf.edu/business/undergraduate/requirements-general.aspx
The issue is that business majors at both USF and FSU (and other schools) are “limited access” majors, so if you do not have the pre-reqs as a transfer, you may be denied admission. In contrast, entering first-year students are not expected to have these prior to admission to the school, but they must complete these pre-reqs prior to admission to one of the majors.
Well, the Eco major isn’t apart of the Muma College of Business. It’s apart of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I talked to one student who is currently a student and said there were no pre-reqs for the major, but I was hoping an advisor could possibly answer on here too.
You did not mention that your were going for ECO. At some schools ECO can be in the Liberal Arts and in a College of Business (it was so at USF until two years ago). So, admission depends on where the major is “housed” and the requirements–if any–for that College/major. ECO at USF is not a limited access major, so you should be able to declare it upon admission: http://economics.usf.edu/undergraduate/ba_ecn.aspx
