Hopkins Social Scene

I was admitted to Hopkins in March and one of the biggest worries I have would be not getting a (somewhat) typical college experience socially. I would probably want to rush (female) but i would like to know some more about Greek life. I also am worried that the difficulty of the academics would weigh heavily on the student body and make it very hard to go out or have a social life. Please help me and if you can give me any insight on the social scene as a comp sci major please do!!

I had a friend who majored in comp sci. He had plenty of time to relax, way more than students in other majors, and with a lower GPA still managed to get excellent internships and an amazing job after graduation. You’ll be fine!

(current student)

Hopkins students work hard, but we (as a rule) have social lives. Greek life is pretty active on campus (though there is no social pressure to rush) and students are known to go out and have fun on weekends. There are also a lot of options for those who aren’t into the party life.

Speaking as a current CS major, the workload isn’t too bad (especially in your first two years) and you should have time for a social life.
