Literature: 630
Math II: 640 (verifying scores)
expected bio score: somewhere in the 600s

I am applying RD to Ivies, such as HYP, Brown, Cornell, and Dartmouth. Also applying to Stanford and JHU (Johns Hopkins).

Quick Stats:
SAT Reasoning- 2200 superscore
Average: 95%
Rank: top 3%
Solid ECs (including 200+ volunteer hours and a medical research mentorship at one of the best hospitals in the country, good recommendations, essays, etc.

I fear that because of my horribly low SAT II scores, I will basically get automatic rejection from the schools that I'm applying to. Should I even bother? :(

Aren’t you re-taking these tests in December? Hopefully you’ve already been studying…

Of course you have a chance, it’s just those chances would be better with better SAT II scores.

And you need to stop worrying… posting all these threads and asking everyone if you have a chance isn’t going to do you any good. You should’ve just been focused on raising your Math score this past month, and on getting another good subject test score.

What if I say you have no Hope whatsoever to get into the Ivies? Believe me and cry your eyes out? Lose hope and get dejected?
HELL NO!!
Believe in your self. Write awesome essays and make a mentality that “I am the best and in no way can the Ivies reject me straight away” and you are golden!

Al the best. And no worries. Plan to write an uncommon essay with a sting in the tail or a superb uncommon intro!

I had a similar predicament - I had scores in the 600s for literature, math 2, and us history. I retook them in november and got a 720 on math 2(still not that high) and a 740 on us. history. I’m not applying to any ivies but some competitive schools - washu, usc, nyu, ann arbor. Just retake them in december don’t give up.

I thought this: “I am the best” said “I am the beast.” I like my mis-reading better. It’s stronger. :D

Anyway, of course you should bother. Low scores–and yours aren’t even that bad–are not an automatic rejection. Plus if you retake and study hard they’ll probably rise. Possibly consider taking a different SAT II that you are more confident in (try practice tests) and then apply to score choice schools?

I’m going to make my Common App essay really unique and unconventional. I have tons of ideas and now I just have to write it, which won’t take me long since I love writing essays (especially ones where I can truly expressive myself).

I’m taking biology this saturday (hopefully I’ll get 700s lol), and am thinking of retaking Math II in January
