Horrible start to college and low GPA, will I be able to transfer?

Will I be able to transfer out of the community college I am currently attending? I have really bad grades from the first 4 semesters of college. Currently feeling completely hopeless.

I was not a great high school student either. During high school I developed anxiety and a manic depression disorder. I struggled to go to school and was eventually placed in special education. During that time I had a whole year of school work to catch up on and my grades took a toll. I graduated highchool as a special education student with the minimum requirements, not a GED. After graduating high school in 2012, I enrolled in community college.

2 weeks before my first semester of college, I was a victim of sexual assault. I tried to tough it out and continue my education because I did not want my anxiety/depression to get in the way of my education any longer. However, I fell into deep depression and anxiety, to the point where I stopped attending classes and received an F. Some professors dropped me on their own and I received a W. Below are my stats from my first semester of college until now. My current GPA is at a 2.3.

My question for anyone that has been in a similar situation or has any knowledge in this topic is if I can still transfer out to a decent university? Or have I completely blown my chances of transferring out to a decent university? My major is in Biology and I would like to attend University of Texas at Austin, or Texas A&M. Also, I have no extra curricular activities other than my job. My job was what made me decide that Biology is what I truly wanted to pursue as a career. I currently work at a laboratory as an admin… Any help or personal success stories are much appreciated!

First of all…deal with your anxiety and depression.
Then I would maybe set my sights a bit lower with that GPA…maybe look at some other colleges. Call up an admission counselor and talk to them…clearly you are doing better with your grades more recently.

It looks like you’re doing much better now. Finish up at your CC with >2.0 and I’m sure there will be a four year school that will take you. It may not be UT but regional colleges frequently have some very good programs to help students.

Thank you for your kind responses and advice. I am currently retaking all the classes I failed in that first year and I am hoping that will raise my GPA.
