Can someone point me in the direction of adequate lodging near Merchant Marine Academy. Perferably on Long Island. Thanks

The Great Neck Inn is very close to the academy but alittle pricey. It is a very clean and nice hotel. The service is not that great, but location makes up for everything. It is walking distance to the train station & the local grocery store. It is a $3.00 taxi ride to the academy.

We have stayed at multiple hotels and a couple of chain hotels and have been most disappointed. The last two times we went down we stayed a little further out in Uniondale at the Long Island Marriott. It was really nice. Very Clean and had excellent hospitality. We were there a couple of weekends ago for ECAC swimming and diving championships. That is my suggestion. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the academy from there but it is quite a direct route.

If money is not a big issue you can't beat the Inn at Great Neck. By far the best hotel. However, if you don't want to spend 300 and up a night for a room I also liked the Marriott in Garden City. A little further out, but near a very nice mall and some good eateries.

Has anyone stayed at the Anchor Inn?

The Anchor Inn and the Adria are located side by side and both operated by the same company. Nothing to write home about, but they are reasonably priced (for the area) and close to the academy. If this is just a visit to KP and not a vacation then it's probably the best deal around.

The Andrew is about the handiest place to stay because you can walk to alot of things including the train/bus station. They require vallet parking though. Have stayed at the Adria as well. Like glb said, its just a place to sleep. My son has stayed at the Anchor & said, eeewww. Don't know what kind of rating that is.... We once stayed in Smithtown at the Sheraton. Great bedding & beds. The comfort made up for the long drive.

Be sure & tell all the area hotels that you are a KP parent & you'll receive a small discount.

Anchor Inn is fine if you just want a bed...don't expect much, because you won't get it....

The Andrew also keeps Kosher.

thanks all, I booked a room at the Andrew for 150.00 off orbitz.

If y'all think the Andrew isn't that great now, you should have seen it when it was known as the Bayberry Inn. It was the pits. I haven't stayed at it since the day before my Indoc so I might have to stay there a night to see the difference

Has anyone stayed at the Adria? I just made a reservation for a visit to USMMA.

Stayed at the Adria once. Its ok. The hotel's rooms were given a face lift a few years ago so looks better on the inside than out. Clean rooms but parking is kinda hard to figure out so be sure they let you know what to do at the front desk. There is a Wendy's across the street you can walk to.
