Hotel recommendations for UM campus visit?

I plan to visit UM for a campus visit with high school student over Spring Break. Does anyone have any recommendations about hotels near campus at a reasonable price? Walking distance is a plus, but not a requirement. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

https://www.visitannarbor.org/media/newsarticle/campus-day-2017 campus day rates for ann arbor hotels. looks like residence inn is walking distance to umich but much more expensive. ann arbor bed and breakfast is right on central campus. keep in mind that other hotels listed probably provide shuttle service to umich or u can always take an uber/lyft

The league is located on central campus campus and about $155. Parking is extra cost.

The Burnt toast inn is a B&B that is about a 15 min walk to the SAB. It’s located close to main street restaurants About $115

Slightly cheaper and closer to Campus , the Library B&B is near the SW edge of central campus, about 7-8 min to the SAB. Several friends have stayed there and liked it.

If you want something cheaper or more standardized, there are clusters of hotels near briarwood mall , both at the mall and off boardwalk. There is a city bus that you can take into town if you do not want to park. Allow 25-30 min, plus wait time and walk time, to go to campus.

www.theride.org , or use google maps. Bus fare is $1.50 for adults, $0.75 for under 18 w HS ID.

City parking lots are very close to campus but can get pricey if you park a long time.

@Eeeee127: Thanks for the suggestion and the comments. BTW, congratulations on your acceptance at both UNC-CH and UM, and good luck with the rest of the admissions process; wherever you end up, you have some great options available to you.

@TooOld4School: Thank you for the insights on the places you mentioned, I will look into them.

Thanks @gandalf78 I’ll prob end up at umich because of the in state tuition.

The on-campus or edge-of-campus options have always been more than I want to spend. The Graduate, which is on the edge of campus, is never less than $250 a night. I usually stay at one of the Hampton Inns. There’s one near north campus and one near the Briarwood Mall. The Holiday Inn Express is also very reasonably priced, also near Briarwood. One notch up and not that much more expensive is the Sheraton (near … Briarwood Mall).

The Westin, located directly in the Detroit airport. It has its own security checkpoint and it just doesn’t get anymore convenient than that if you’re flying. Only about a 30-to-35 minute drive from the airport to Ann Arbor. (Plenty of public parking in Ann Arbor.)

@brantly @bsangs : Thank you for your suggestions!

If you really want to go cheap there is a Motel 6 at the corner of I-94 and and State St. (around $55) It actually is not too bad, and there is a Costco, McD, Zingerman’s coffee shop, creamery and bakery and a coney island within walking distance, and you can go to campus via bus. There is also a days inn on carpenter rd (similar price) but is is a little run down. Finally there is a Microtel near Plymouth & Green rds ($80-$90) close to North Campus.

There are free buses between East Medical Center, North and Central campus, and several of the park and rides too.

There are many places at or around $125 if you will drive or uber. I usually stay at a Hilton Hampton Inn.

@TooOld4School: Nothing is off the table in terms of cost!

@HRSMom: Thank you for the suggestion!
