The Statler was booked the same day I got my letter for transfer day :( I really wanted to stay right on campus but I guess it wont work out. Cornell provided a list of hotels but I'm just looking for the closest one. Anyone have any recs or experiences at any? I'm sure anyhting will do, but I just dont wanna do the last minute thing with booking a hotel. It's too bad I dont know anyone going there from my HS, otherwise I'd just stay with them. I really want to get the feel of the campus and so forth. Is there going to be anything going on that night?

The next best hotel would be the Hilton in the Commons. It's not too far away, and I think they might have a shuttle that goes to Cornell once in a while. It's great to explore the commons while you're in Ithaca as well!!

Here you go, right on campus and free:

I tend to stay in the Best Western University Inn ... it's pretty close to campus and pretty decent.

I second the hosting program of the Red Carpet Society!! If that doesn't work out, you may want to stay downtown in the Commons area. In addition to the Hilton, I believe there is a Holiday Inn too.

Super 8 isn't bad either- it's relatively new. That area is close to Wegman's. (just a terrific grocery store). You have to go there to appreciate it!

wow! Cooool!! I haven't heard of the Red Carpet Society before...I'll def. contact them next time I visit Cornell!

btw, is this only for prospective students? As in, parents and family would have to stay at the Statler or nearby hotels?

yes- it is only for the student- you'll be paired with a student and will be sleeping in a dorm. I believe my kid had to bring a sleeping bag.
If you are interested- contact them NOW don't wait until the visit. You need to make arrangements a few weeks before the date you are planning to visit.
I also like the Marriott Courtyard - it's near the Ithaca airport. or Hampton Inn (also near Wegmen's)
