Does anyone know if Cornell has a program where a hs student can stay with a Cornell student for an overnight visit? If so, how would I sign up for that?

Doesnt the hotel school run a hotel that you can stay at?

If you want to be able to afford tuition if they accept you, you're better off not staying at the hotel. It's a legit 3 star operation. Red carpet puts you in a student's dorm, so you can gauge the campus environment in a residential sense.

I learned so much more during my visit with the Red Carpet Society than I did visiting with my family. If you can participate in the program, definitely do it. Depending on where you live you might be able to catch a bus with a bunch of other students in your area through your local Cornell Club. It cost $75 tops (may have been less) and that was basically to cover the coach buses we took. But yeah, they still leave time for all the tours you could possibly want and you'll get to meet prospective students, current students, and professors alike.

What? Did you visit the school alone?

What kind of stuff do you do while staying with the current student? I imagine that who you stay with can have a lot of effect on your impression of the school. If I got stuck with a kid that just wanted to study and let me sit there, I'd be pretty ticked. If I got taken to some sweet party though, then my impression of Cornell would be much higher.

I'm thinking of doing this when I go up for my interview for the hotel school hopefully during the fall.

you're not "allowed" to be taken to sweet parties i don't think. you'd get a better idea of what it's like from the hall than the one person probably.
